Billionaire 2 to this day is still the most challenging and expensive bear in the billionaire series to secure. The production version has a unique “tylon” fabric with two bright green dollar signs adorning its chest. This is another production piece that is still quite challenging to secure.
This is our absolute favorite surviving prototype for Billionaire 2. It is the inverse of what ended up in production. It has a mint pax tush tag and a mint pax hang tag that has been signed by Ty! The pax date on this piece is 7.26.99 – about six weeks earlier than the release of the production bear on 9.12.99 at Ty’s annual picnic.
Hints of the existence cropped up when a Billionaire 2 bear part of a master set Ty made showed up years ago. A picture of that billionaire 2 bear prototype is below. You can see that piece is much closer to production, with a ribbon and alternate colored $ sign emblems in cream. On its shoulder is the inverse green fabric, suggesting Ty was considering this shade of green.
Story! This piece ended up being given to one of THE top performing Sales Reps in 1999. They brought it forward only recently with a few other incredible pieces.
