NANA the monkey Prototype: TYRIFFIC Yellow and Brown

Here is the FAMOUS YELLOW NANA prototype. Our last post outlined the Tyriffic Green and Yellow Nana. This Nana’s story, rarity, appeal, Tyriffic status, are all the same. This piece had a more interesting detour. Faith, Ty Warner’s ex fiancée (a primary source who helped Ty launch the beanie line, and was responsible for moving a number of rare prototypes to the collecting market) said this exact Nana and a solid lime green Slither resided on their bedroom dresser. The two pieces made their way from Faith to a super collector in California. This is the only known yellow-bodied Nana – and the one Ty chose to hold on to personally. Our guess would be because the yellow resonates most with the color of a banana. A number of the surviving Nana prototypes have some proportion of yellow fabric in their color scheme.

Rarity Rank: -.5. Same explanation for the green Nana proto. This is a piece of legends. It is the rarest variety of Tyriffic Prototype (see pictures below) and is a wild, true, complete, VIVID color departure for the famous and rare Nana. “Tyriffic Nanas” are among the most coveted and fiercely collected prototypes in the hobby. Technically, there are eight of them. As you will see, this piece had its pax hang tag removed for display purposes, but this is well known and does not impact the value of this piece.
