Down came the rain and washed the spider…in ORANGE! This piece is an incredible treat to see. A FULLY completed solid color alternate for the original 1st generation Web the spider!!! Complete with 1992 pax dates. Web is one of the most beloved 1st generation pieces. To see a true prototype for this piece in such a vibrant orange color. Perhaps when Ty decided against this design, he felt more comfortable pushing forward with the orange digger and goldie.
Rarity Rank: 0. (solid orange web) A couple prototype Web the spiders exist, including a famous example with orange belly (pictured below). This particular Web receives a solid “0” rank zero given it is a full color departure for a coveted original 1st generation piece. This could be nudged to -.5 territory. Incredible that this piece could be surfaced, especially after its more famous younger brother with orange belly and black top was known to have been owned by Faith – Ty’s ex fiancée. The piece surfaced at a trade show for $10,000 years ago during the boom, vanished into one of the largest collections, only to surface after that collection disbanded around 2013 when its owner passed way. Makes you wonder what this original version might be worth! This particular Orange Web was surfaced from a very seasoned Ty Employee who only kept a few of the very best prototypes.
Rarity Rank: 1. (orange belly, black top Web). A true 1993 pax prototype Web with all pax tags – this is an astounding piece with an incredibly elite “1” rank. Web, again, is a very coveted original 1st generation piece. And this piece has a fair bit of fame given its original owner, Faith, shared and sold the piece with the beanie community almost 20 years ago!
