Speedy the PROTOYPE Fuchsia and Yellow Twigs

This is another incredible 1st generation prototype that surfaced around protogate in 2004/2005. What a striking Speedy prototype! The main body is bright fuchsia and its back appears to be fabric that we eventually saw used for Twigs the giraffe. This piece is complete with pax hang and pax tush tag. a WILD departure. This speedy is the most wild known Speedy prototype, but it does have 1994 pax dates, seeming to indicate this was a design considered after Ty had the production example decided upon. Who knows – Ty may have wanted to change up Speedy’s design. Interestingly, Ty did make another radical prototype Slither in this color scheme. He seemed fond of the fabric pairing. We have also seen a fair number of vintage prototypes in the alternate fuchsia fabric (fuchsia dino trio set, fuchsia humphrey, fuchsia wingless quackers, etc.) and a prototype Ally with the Twigs shell fabric for its back.

Rarity Rank: 1. A full/wild departure for an original 1st generation piece- Speedy! The piece is complete with pax tags (tush and hang!) and has vivid coloring. If Speedy were a more coveted style or if this example had earlier pax dates, the rank might be a bit higher. But this is a stunning piece that has long been on the collecting community’s radar.
