Ty first released a gold tagged US Elizabeth version in the states, prior to the UK gold tagged example, without any publication. This Elizabeth bear was given out at a Ty Employee luncheon on December 21st, 2022. Its delivery came as a surprise to employees – arriving in a brown paper bag, with the gold tag attached to the bag itself (and not the beanie). It is our understanding that tyme ran out to attach the tags to the beanie itself. The US gold-tagged Elizabeth bears are in fact the 3rd version of the Elizabeth bear, but the tags, if we had to describe them, appear to be simpler, prototype versions of the tags that eventually came to be placed on the UK examples.
Rarity Tier: Extremely Rare/Elite Rare
Not all employees received this piece, so while it is believed 96 were made, it is unclear how many were actually sent out. Additionally, there is a strong chance that many of these tags were thrown out, given they were not affixed to the beanie itself/may have been disregarded as trash with the brown bag. To date only about a half dozen examples have reached the collecting community, but given this piece was released to Ty employees, we expect a few more to surface/be brought to market. Securing this piece is an extremely tall order and exceedingly challenging. It will remain one of the rarest production pieces in history.
