Ty UK repeated similar steps with its second set of releases for its 30th anniversary beanies. This set includes Peanut II, Squealer II, and Snort II. June 17th, 2023 was the release date for these. Collectors lined up and were permitted one example. Hamley’s moved up the release time and sold the more limited editions before store opening. Everything was long gone before the store opened to the public. Hysteria similar to the original 90’s was certainly palpable.
Rarity Tier: Elite Rare
With a maximum population of 30 per style, we are in the same extremely limited territory as the prior release. Unlike series 1, with this drop it was much more difficult to secure pieces, as collectors were limited to a single example. Assembling sets for this release was an even greater challenge than series 1. On the flip side, more of the pieces for this set did end up with resellers, just not “Ty” resellers. More of these pieces were also held back for Hamley’s executives – so only around 23 of each style made it to shelves. The same issues plaguing the original set’s survival numbers exist here, too, but to a lesser extent (many pieces are MIA entirely, having not surfaced, but fewer than were MIA for series 1). Resellers were ready for this second release and were out in full force.
