Brownie solid RED and BROWN Ty prototype: Original 9

Brownie – with a 4 line tush tag, is now classified as an “original 2” along with the deep fuchsia Patti, but this is one of the staple original 9 prototypes. The piece we have here is an absolute INSANE treat, and to many, a dream piece with no equal, and to all, a piece that has an easy argument of being one of the finest prototype pieces to exist. This is a full departure BROWNIE prototype in solid red, with a brown snout. The nose is also brown, tipping off that this guy is in fact Brownie, and not another lay-flat bear (Blackie etc.). This piece is complete with pax tush tag, and pax hang tag with May 1992 pax dates – dates this early are only seen on original 9 prototype pieces (and this is among one of the very earliest recorded dates). A senior Ty executive had this piece in their personal collection.

Rarity Rank: -.5/-.75 This piece has one of the rarest rankings that can be given. Original 9 (original 2!) prototype, elite style (Brownie), VIVID FULL departure from the production piece, earliest 1992 pax dates. Another piece with an easy argument as one of the grandest jewels one can obtain in the hobby. While we have tried to give rough rarity rankings for pieces, this piece could easily be argued to be a full -1. The fact that there are a couple of other existing Brownie prototypes + paired with the fact that there are a few elite styles more greatly valued and coveted in the hobby, keep it slightly short of the most elite -1 status.
