Patti the SOLID RED platypus Ty Prototype: Original 9

Patti the Platypus, now affectionately known as one of the “original 2” styles, is one of the most intriguing pieces in the hobby. Early on graders aligned and categorized Patti’s many shades into four distinct colors – deep fuchsia (1st gen), raspberry (1st and 2nd gen), maroon/magenta (3rd gen), and fuchsia (3rd gen onward). But in truth, there were many micro color variations that were lumped into these categories: deep raspberry, champagne – it is why we absolutely love that a Patti prototype exists with SOLID RED fabric. This piece is complete with original pax tush tag and hang tag, and exceedingly early May 1992 pax tag dates. This piece is entirely red, outside of her bill/webbed feet. You can see this piece next to the red fabric of a production pinchers, and next to a number of other production patti color variations (including a partner prototype that will be reviewed shortly).

Rarity Rank: -.5 This is such an incredible piece. Earliest pax tags, full color departure for an original 9. But perhaps not so vivid when you sit this example down to all of the other color variations – particularly raspberry and magenta examples. That aside, this piece is complete with early 1992 pax tags etc. Patti is one of the most coveted original 9 pieces. A MQ 4L Patti Raspberry is still among the most challenging 1st gen pieces to secure.
