Brownie Tie-Dyed Ty Prototype Set: Original 9

Thought the original 9 treats might be over eh? Feast your eyes on the most magnificent original 9 prototype subset in existence. There is so much with this absolutely breathtaking set. First and foremost, these are not prototypes for Sammy – a similar looking completely tie-dyed lie-down bear released Jan. 1st, 1999. No – this is a set of six Brownie prototypes in full tie-dyed fabric, with noses and ears that match the fabric of the eventual original 6 old face and new face teddies released mid 1994 and mid 1995. Those colors include violet, jade, teal, magenta, cranberry, and brown. Also common knowledge, Cubbie was originally named Brownie. These tags prove the Brownie name was not an error, but was in fact the intended name. Each Brownie prototype is complete with pax hang and tush tags – but the pax tags have the original name “Brownie” written out (and signed) by Ty Warner himself! The pax tag dates are prime mid 1992 dates. Below also pictured, the 1994 Ty catalog – the first catalog to feature the original 9 beanies. It is possible the original order forms from late 1993 did in fact have Brownie listed as “Brownie” with Patti (Deep Fuchsia) – but working to confirm this. Additionally – this seems to indicate that Ty had the fabric for the original 6 teddies established much earlier then anticipated -despite seeing he had prototype teddy options in all fabric colors. Perhaps those fabrics were intended to be replacements, for the original 6 colors, or were a way for him to efficiently see what other fabric shades looked like.

Rarity Rank: -1 as a set. -.75 individually. As individual pieces, these Brownie prototypes would compare to the incredible solid red Brownie prototype etc. But as a complete set, when it is understood what this set is, these pieces catapult to the rarest rarity ranking possible. Full WILD departure original 9 (original 2!) prototypes – all pax tags, 1992 pax dates. AND signature and notes from Ty Warner himself. Plus a look at what the original colored teddy set might have been. Astounding and beyond COOL that these guys exist, and were salvaged by a senior Ty executive.
