Interestingly, Ty made three very special sets for his famous Tyriffic stores of his most famous teddy styles – Valentino, Princess, and Erin! This set is the Valentino set of six bears. Pax tags removed for all pieces – typical for pieces displayed at the Tyriffic Store (tags tipped off Ty’s manufacturer, and distracted from the pieces on display. There have been, we believe, a few limited cases where pax tags were reattached by Ty after pieces came back from display. But this has not been confirmed). This set fits the bill of the sets done for Princess and Erin – solid white, with different color ribbons/emblems from production. In Valentino’s case, the production bear was already white, with brown nose, so these pieces really do fit well with the production bear. Valentino was released originally with a second generation hang tag in Jan. of 1995. That makes these some of the oldest teddy prototypes to exist. The six prototypes here: pink heart and pink ribbon, purple heart with purple ribbon, maroon heart with maroon ribbon, navy heart with navy ribbon, green heart with green ribbon, and orange heart with orange ribbon.
Rarity Rank: 1. There is a classic elegance to this set. About as full a departure you can get for this piece and still have this absolutely be ‘Valentino’. A full set. And the entire set a confirmed Tyriffic piece. You’ll also note the authentication certificates below – most have extremely early authentication dates of 2005. This would indicate that this set actually came from Faith – Ty Warner’s ex fiancé. She is credited with helping Ty get beanies/Ty Inc off the ground in its earliest days. Many Tyriffic pieces ended up with Faith after they fulfilled their time on display.
