This is the very neat counterpart/later stage prototype to the solid black stripes prototype with patch! Dark Stripes Stripes was the original 3rd generation version of Stripes the cat – later released with a lighter gold fabric.
The original production version of stripes was always very tough to find back in the day – released 6/3/96. We saw lots of micro ‘fuzzy’ oddities/variations – belly, leg, head, etc. Then a year after initial release, the new version broke ground. This exquisite prototype has the body/coloring of the original dark stripes, but has solid black paws and ears, a gold nose and whiskers. Complete pax dates (12/94 pax dates – a few months later than the solid black earlier example with 9/94 pax dates).
Rarity Rank: 2.25-2.5. A fantastic original, EARLY 3rd generation prototype departure for a rare early Ty piece! This guy is also a clear 2nd/3rd step in the design process for the original dark Stripes. Fantastic piece.
