This piece was another that found its way out of Ty Inc. via one of most famous (infamous?) prototype sellers back in the day (during protogate) – Pacman Beans. He had some of the most incredible prototypes. This one included. An original 9 Chocolate the moose prototype! Production color fabric, and green antlers. This lines up more closely with the Faith prototype Chocolate (photo and link below).
This example has Legs green Antlers – complete with pax tag that is dated 3.18.92!! Now, Becky at True Blue Beans and this author have never seen another pax date as old as this one. Previously, the oldest date had been May of 1992 on a Brownie prototoype. Perhaps an error? Or proof that Ty started his prototype design a few months earlier than we had anticipated. Interesting!
Rarity Rank: 0. This piece is a true original 9 departure prototype. Full stop. With pax tags. Is Chocolate the most exciting original 9? No (in our opinion). Is this the wildest departure? No. But it IS a vivid one, and falls in like with the remarkable Fath prototype example. It also has early pax dates that leave no question that this ie one of the earliest prototypes Ty created in the Beanie Baby line. Magnificient piece!
